Pitch Absolute Wilderness

Everything you need to write about Tanzania's most compelling safari story — data, assets, angles, and a direct line to our team.

Why cover us

A story worth telling

Absolute Wilderness is a TATO-certified, owner-operated safari company based in Arusha, Tanzania. We specialise in private, small-group safaris across the Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire, Ruaha, and Zanzibar — with a philosophy built on deep local knowledge, responsible travel, and genuine wilderness access that larger operators cannot offer.

We are not a booking aggregator. Every itinerary is designed in-house by guides who live and work in the ecosystems they show you. That distinction — and the stories it produces — is what we invite you to explore.

Wildlife

The Great Migration: beyond the crossing

Most coverage focuses on the Mara River crossing. We can take your readers to the calving season in the southern Serengeti — 500,000 wildebeest born in six weeks — a spectacle that rivals the crossing and is almost entirely uncovered in mainstream travel media.

· 1.5 million wildebeest complete the annual circuit
Conservation

How community-based tourism is saving Tanzania's wildlife corridors

Tanzania's wildlife corridors outside national park boundaries are under pressure from agriculture and development. We work directly with Maasai communities in the Loliondo corridor — a story about land rights, coexistence, and the economics of conservation that no luxury travel brand is telling.

· 38,000 km² of protected wilderness in Tanzania
Luxury

The rise of the private mobile camp

Permanent lodges are filling up. The new frontier for discerning travellers is the private mobile camp — set up in exclusive concessions, moved with the wildlife, and offering access that fixed properties simply cannot match. We operate and can arrange access to the best in Tanzania.

· Private concessions cover 25% of Tanzania's safari land
Data

Adventure

Kilimanjaro and the Serengeti in one trip

The combination of Africa's highest peak and its greatest wildlife spectacle in a single two-week itinerary is the ultimate East Africa story. We design and operate this combination exclusively — and can provide expert commentary, logistics detail, and guest access for features.

· Kilimanjaro: 5,895m — Africa's highest summit
Responsible travel

What 'sustainable safari' actually means

The term is overused and under-defined. As TATO members operating in Tanzania for over a decade, we can offer an honest, expert perspective on what responsible safari tourism looks like in practice — and what it doesn't.
